Soundwave (1990)
Soundwave is one of the rare Action Masters where it doesn’t really matter that the ability to transform has been lost. What does matter, however, is that Soundwave was a popular enough character from the initial Transformers series to enjoy/endure a return as an Action Master.
Looking more like the original toy than the character’s animation model, Soundwave retains his blue/silver colours, gold-rimmed chest and iconic helmet/face mask.
For reasons unknown, Soundwave’s visor has become pink. Weird.
Like the rest of the entry-level Action Masters, Soundwave comes with a small transformable accessory/partner. Wingthing (for goodness sake!) is a black and orange bat that, at the push of its tail, converts into a concussion cannon.
Back in 1986 there was a character called Ratbat which was one of the original Soundwave’s cassettes. Wingthing, with wings changed from orange to purple, could quite easily have been Ratbat.
Soundwave can wield Wingthing in weapon mode.
Soundwave’s own weapon, the handheld photon negator, can be inserted into Wingthing’s barrel to form a super weapon. This is best avoided if Soundwave is to remain standing.
As with most other Action Masters, Soundwave is recommended to those who particularly like the non-transforming range. For anyone else, sounds like it’s worth avoiding.
Verdict: one star out of five.

1/5 ???? For an Action Master ??? Are you mad Thomson ???? What low mark are you holding back for a G2 Powermaster ? This is a superb action figure !
I love this figure. 5 out of 5!
I must join my voice with my brothers. Up your rating now for the good of your own soul!!!!
Poor Soundwave. He should get 10/5, the other 5 for being an action master!
And then another 2 points on top just for Wingthing
