“Scorpion Sting”
Scorponok might be the one who resurfaces in Qatar in “Scorpion Sting” but it’s the return of Stewart “Staz” Johnson that is the highlight of this story. Like Geoff Senior’s return in Titan’s Transformers first issue, Staz’s return is something to get the fans excited.
Simon Furman’s script is a light read, with little depth and a very tired and worn plot. The ten pages pass by without much incident.
In spite of the script, Staz renders some startling and dynamic visuals. There’s a certain raw quality to his work here that really sets the pages alight.
“Scorpion Sting” reads like a short sideways sequel to the Transformers (2007) film but doesn’t provide anything permanent. And like said film, it’s recommended for the visuals, but not the depth of storytelling.

“Scorpion Sting” (10 pp) was originally published by Titan Magazines in Transformers #8 (March 2008)
