Beast Machines
Mainframe followed its immensely successful Beast Wars series with Beast Machines in 1999. Beast Machines took the Transformers story in bold, new directions with a spiritual epic that pushed its characters and tested their loyalties. The plotlines and concepts posited by the series provided controversial food-for-thought with many viewers.
Beast Machines, like Beast Wars, used state of the art computer-generated animation, but this time, a much darker and more stylised approach was used. The music, too, lent itself to a darker tone. In fact the opening theme tune was an edited version of "Phat Planet" by British electronic band, Leftfield.
