Hubris Magazine F.A.Q.

1. What is Hubris?

Hubris is simply a magazine that celebrates The Transformers®. Every issue is packed with features, fiction and reviews that delve deep into the adventures of those robots in disguise.

2. When you say magazine, you mean, like, printed?

Yep. Printed, collated, folded, stapled down the middle, magazine type thing.

3. Isn’t that a bit old-fashioned in this day and age?

I cling to the old ways. Besides, web sites may come and go, but a collection of printed magazines can last forever. Or at least until nuclear armageddon.

4. How often is Hubris published?

Every two months… or thereabouts.

5. Is there a subscription/pre-order service?

Yes. Yes, there is. You can place a subscription to issues 13-15 (Feb-June 2010) here.

6. Which issues are actually available at the moment?

You can see what’s currently in print here.

7. What’s next?

The next scheduled issue is #14, available at the end of March 2010.

8. Will older issues be available again?

Collected reprint Special Editions are in the works!

9. What about “Globequake” and other, older stories from before Hubris was conceived?

Since the fiction published in current issues of Hubris follow the same storyline from the likes of “Globequake”, the intention to keep all of the stories in print. The Hubris Chronicles are fiction-only collections, and you can order them here.

10. Will any of the content from Hubris be made available online?

Yes it will. Selected reviews and features from older Hubris issues will see their way onto the web site.

11. How can I pay for Hubris?

You can either pay online using Paypal or by cheque. Full details are given on each issue’s page.

12. Do you make a profit from publishing Hubris?

No profit is made. Prices cover production, shipping and Paypal transaction fee costs.

13. What is the impetus behind Hubris?

I like Transformers and I like writing. I like writing about Transformers; whether it’s fiction, reviews or specialist articles. So, a magazine like Hubris is the perfect outlet. I can’t draw very well, but I am practising. Hopefully readers are entertained and informed at the same time.

14. Who else contributes to Hubris?

I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Stephen Baskerville, Garry Bodsworth, Matt Dallas, Kevin Hagan, Ed Pirrie, Mark Stevenson and Andrew Turnbull for their artistic contributions to the magazine!

15. Have you done any other printed Transformers® projects?

Oh sure. In 1995 I started a fanzine called “Transmasters Universe” which lasted until 2003 after 30 or so issues and a DVD special. After that there was “The 0-Series” which published material contributed by members of the Transmasters UK fanclub. There were other projects as well, but they were either short-lived (”Transformers Galaxy”) or one-off convention specials.

16. I have moved house. How can I update my address?

You can fill in this form.
