Hubcap

The Transformers Mini-Autobot Hubcap (1986)The Mini-Autobots assortment from 1986 (aside from Wheelie) consists of reused but retooled moulds from the 1984 assortment. In Hubcap’s case, it is the Cliffjumper mould that has been tinkered with. After such a varied and diverse assortment in 1985, it’s a bit of a shame that the latest batch of Mini-Autobots are more of the same.

While slightly more value for money than just a recoloured mould with a new name, Hubcap does seem to come off the worst, since Cliffjumper’s mould was already so similar to that of Bumblebee’s.

For those keeping count, that’s four Transformers in three years sharing the same body type. All available in yellow, too.

The Transformers Mini-Autobot Hubcap (1986)Like Cliffjumper, Hubcap’s alternate form is that of a horizontally-challenged Porsche “924 Turbo” sports car. This time, without the spoiler, though. In robot mode, the mould features an entirely new head; yellow with an orange painted face. The modifications stop there.

Hubcap is too similar to both Bumblebee and Cliffjumper, so unless you’ve missed out on those two or are of the completist persuasion, probably not worth looking for.
