Six-Shot

ALLEGIANCE: DECEPTICON
FUNCTION: SOLO TRANSFORMER ASSAULT GROUP
“Life is worth living only as long as there are enemies worth destroying.”

First Appearance: Transformers 137

Six-Shot is a vile, nasty, and murderous villain. He executes his work (and his enemies) with a ferocious intensity that would short out the circuits of a lesser Decepticon. His actions are determined by sheer instinct. Six-Shot has earned great respect from many of his fellow Decepticons. He is a particular favourite of Megatron’s, who treats Six-Shot like a wind-up war machine to be pointed at the highest concentration of Autobots. Six-Shot is also incredibly arrogant and recalcitrant, acting only in his own self interests. He would sooner allow every Decepticon under his command be sacrificed to protect himself.

Abilities: Six-Shot has six configurations available. Of them, his winged-wolf mode is by far his favourite. His razor-sharp claws and fangs can shred even the thickest armour. In pistol mode, he can be wieldable by fellow Decepticons to fire high powered lasers. Six-shot possesses two ground vehicle modes, in armoured carrier mode he is armed with twin laser batteries, and in ramming tank mode he is equipped with a highly sophisticated infra-red rangefinder and target tracker. In star fighter mode, he can reach escape velocity and cruise at speeds of 128,000 km/h for 1 500 000 km. In robot mode, Six-Shot is armed with dual hypersonic concussion blasters that use intense soundwaves to knock out enemy systems.

Weaknesses: Six-Shot’s primal instincts and vicious temper often override his capacity for logical thought, thereby endangering those under his command. Six-Shot’s overly complicated transformation mechanism leaves him vulnerable during the times he is between modes.

Commentary

Six-Shot was released in 1987 and reissued in 2002. The toy was not available officially in the UK but in the mid-nineties several collectors’ shops were in a position to import a batch. In Japan, Six-Shot was released in 1989 with a new colour scheme and slight mould re-tooling under the name “Greatshot”. Six-Shot’s name was reused in 2005’s Transformers Energon range for a recolour of the Shockblast toy.

Six-Shot made a brief appearance in the first episode of the Amercian “Rebirth” trilogy. In the Japanese “Headmasters” series, Six-Shot played a significant role and became (in)famous for murdering Ultra Magnus.

Six-Shot appeared in the second issue of Marvel US’s “Headmasters” mini-series. He was only in a single panel with a single line of dialogue.

Six-Shot was never featured in any of the British Transformers comic series’ stories.
