Hun-Grrr has two mouths to feed—his own. While most other Decepticons hunger for power and glory, Hun-Grrr simply hungers for food. Even in the middle of pitched battle with the Autobots, he will still find time to eat. From scrap metal, to rubble, to Autobot limbs, Hun-Grrr will greedily tuck into anything going. If not for the fact that Hun-Grrr has an aversion for living things, the Terrorcons under his command would not go near him. The rest of the Decepticons find Hun-Grrr’s habits distasteful, preferring to refuel the traditional way; and, given that the Terrorcons are generally ostracized for their antisocial behaviour anyway, it’s a subject that Hun-Grrr has plenty of opportunity to ruminate over.
Weaknesses: It is a mystery how and why Hun-Grrr became leader of the Terrorcons:While his fellow Terrorcons are used to the series of otherwise incomprehensible grunts he issues as orders, other troops that aren’t familiar with him and his methods will often misinterpret them and ruin a carefully planned strategy. Hun-Grrr is slow and plodding in creature mode, and thus an easy target.
Commentary
Transformers:
Hun-Grrr was released in 1987 along with the rest
of the Terrocons. Unlike the previous year’s Special
Teams, the Terrorcons were only released individually,
not in giftsets. Only in Japan were the Terrorcons
released as an “Abominus” giftset. In Japan Hun-Grrr was
known as “Hun-Gruu”. I am not sure which name is sillier,
really. A known variation of Hun-Grrr exists with no
heat-sensitive sticker and its indentation filled.
Marvel Comics:
Hun-Grrr was thinly featured in the original
Transformers comic. He first appeared in the
“Headmasters” mini-series and then only in a couple of
issues after that.
In the British series, Hun-Grrr was best pals with Soundwave in the future-based stories such as “Legacy of Unicron”, “Space Pirates” and “Time Wars”. He also appeared in the black-and-white “A Small War” story, though his appearance here is out of place with the rest of the storyline.
History
Hun-Grrr and Snap Trap both joined the Decepticon cause as sentry guards, in charge of security of the Toxic Sludge Swamps on Cybertron. Both clearly good at their jobs, the pair were given the Terrorcons and Seacons respectively to command. The two teams became the first Decepticon Special Teams. Competition between the two groups grew until it became apparent that they could no longer work together.
Hun-Grrr and his team came under Scorponok’s leadership. When Scorponok received a transmission from the planet Nebulos, they were keen to accompany their new leader and leave Cybertron.
Upon arriving on Nebulos, Hun-Grrr took great pleasure in tearing up as much of the fresh new landscape as possible. When it was time for the Decepticons to leave Nebulos, Hun-Grrr and his team temporarily broke away from Scorponok and went back to Cybertron with Six-Shot. Hun-Grrr resumed his sentry duties, this time working for Thunderwing.
The Terrorcons were called back to Earth, and reunited with the Seacons. However, both teams were destroyed by Starscream and his Underbase powers.
